Lazarus Health Day
SUNDAY, September 16, 2 - 6 PM
For more than a decade, Lazarus has held an annual Health Day in the heart of Atlanta. This year, we are hosting the Health Day here at North Avenue on the upper parking deck. Together we will celebrate good health and kinship with our brothers and sisters in the homeless community. In past years, Lazarus Health Day has welcomed hundreds of our neighbors, providing medical care and other services. You can volunteer— medical professionals can serve in a variety of ways, and more volunteers are also needed to help host at the art station, bookstore, kids’ activities, clothing store, food prep, haircuts, manicures and pedicures, job prep, registration table, and other areas.
(Make sure you indicate you heard about Health Day via NAPC when you register below!)
Engaging Homelessness Class
Monday, September 10, 7-8:30 p.m. at North Avenue Presbyterian Church
Allison McGill, the founder of Lazarus shares the history of the organization, what they have learned through experience, their approach to engaging the homeless community today, and opportunities to volunteer. If you're planning to volunteer at Health Day on September 16, this is a great primer. This is also a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about interacting with and engaging those experiencing homelessness in our city.
