First Serve Opportunities serve as an on-ramp for people to connect with missions at NAPC.
August First Serve: Welcome Chinese Students
“Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.” Hebrews 13:2
Join us Aug. 1-17 as we partner with the Georgia Tech Chinese Students and Scholars Association (GTCSSA) to welcome more than 300 people coming directly from Mainland China to Georgia Tech. This is a perfect opportunity for you to connect with one of North Avenue’s most vibrant and transformational ministries. At least 85 volunteers are needed to make the Welcoming a success! There are several different ways you can help:
Airport Pickup (Aug. 1-17) Please visit www.apath-international.org/napc for the link to sign up for a specific day or time. This does not obligate you, but puts you in a pool of drivers so that you may select to pickup students as they schedule arrivals in August.
Host scholars in your home (Aug. 1-17) You may host students from one to five nights, according to your schedule. You will need to provide a bed, breakfast, and transportation to and from Georgia Tech. Evening meals are available to the scholars and their hosts at the Westminster Christian Fellowship (WCF) house as needed. Please visit to www.apath-international.org/napc to sign up.
Serve as a Host at the WCF Center Arrive early in the morning to open the center or during the days from Aug. 10-17 only as needed.
Support nightly dinners at WCF Center held each evening from Aug. 8-15. Volunteers are needed to bring dinner foods, help prepare food at WCF, provide clean up help for the building, host at the dinner, and/or drive students as needed. Come “hang out” with us to meet and greet and help new students as they arrive.
Support the Welcome dinner at NAPC (with decorations, gift bags, registration, transportation and cleanup. Aug. 17 from 5-9:30 p.m.
Donate or help deliver beds or furniture to student apartments.
Join the prayer team. Pray for the welcoming logistics, for the students, for the host families and airport pickup volunteers, and for the Welcoming dinner.
