Adult Choirs

Wednesdays, 7-8:30 p.m. | Sundays, 10:30- 12:15 a.m.

Voices across the spectrum of skill, age, and culture fulfill a common vocation by singing with the Chancel Choir in 11:15 a.m. worship.  The service is anchored by timeless hymns and anthems reflecting the breadth of sacred music from ancient chant, to major works, to living composers.  Beyond weekly worship, the Choir prepares a “Service of Nine Lessons and Carols” in Advent and a unique jazz-influenced Easter sunrise service held outdoors in partnership with First Congregational Church. No audition is required. A meal is offered on Wednesday evenings before rehearsal to ease rush hour stress.

This newly formed group is an entry point for beginners interested in choral music, healthy vocal technique, and how sacred music connects and strengthens our faith across time and traditions. All ages welcome.

Handbell Choir

(Advanced High School-Adult) | Wednesdays, 6-6:55 p.m.

A basic knowledge of music reading and a good sense of rhythm are all one needs to be an effective Handbell ringer. Although Handbells were originally used as practice instruments for tower bell ringers in England, Handbell choirs have now become a fixture in many churches worldwide. The choir rings every four to six weeks in worship during the academic year.

Children and Youth Choirs

CHERUB CHOIR (ages two to six)

Sundays, 9:15-10 a.m.

Through song, laughter, and singing in worship, the Cherub Choir learns about the love and power of God. We learn that Jesus loves each of us–young and old–no matter what we do or who we are. Music fills so many of us with joy. Sharing that joy in God’s name with our youngest members is what makes NAPC a nurturing place for children.

JUNIOR CHOIR (First-Fifth grade)

Sundays, 9:15-10 a.m.

Junior Choir builds on the foundation of earlier experiences in Cherub Choir

by introducing musical notation, simple two-part harmony, vocal technique, and listening skills that empower the young voice to “… sing with the spirit, but also with the understanding.” (I Corinthians 14:15) The Juniors sing in worship every four to six weeks, participate in “Lessons and Carols,” and offer a staged musical at Christmas and in mid-summer as part of the Fine Arts Camp.

For more information contact Bryan Black.

YOUTH CHOIR (Sixth-Twelfth grade)

Sundays, 4-5 p.m.

Teens find greater challenges and creative expressions in the Youth Choir as their voices mature and four-part (SATB) harmony is introduced. High energy arrangements of world music and gospel selections contrast with hymns, carols, and core literature from sacred traditions. Selections are offered in worship every four to six weeks including “Lessons and Carols” and the annual Youth-Confirmation Sunday.
