North Avenue Presbyterian Church

Psalm 96 calls us to "sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord all the earth!" The ministry of music at North Avenue answers this charge with beautiful offerings in all of our worship services. Talented musicians view their offerings as worship, and in doing so, they help the congregation as well to see God in new and vital ways. The Music Ministry seeks to provide opportunities for all ages to worship, praise, and know more fully the presence of God through his gift of music. Have music questions? Contact Melinda Clark.

Meet our Director of Music & the Arts Melinda Clark!

Melinda Clark is originally from Augusta, Georgia. She has studied music throughout her life including majoring in music at the University of Georgia as well as studying choral conducting with Joseph Flummerfelt at Westminster Choir College and orchestral conducting with Gunther Schuller. She has been a practicing Director of Music and Organist for churches of many denominations. She is also a composer, including several commissioned works, a choral and orchestral conductor, a choral, piano, and organ teacher, and recording artist (Serenity: A Collection of Favorite Hymns). When asked why she went into the ministry, she replied, "I couldn't do otherwise. I love God's gift of music too much!" She loves putting music and people together in a participatory way and to see the spontaneous joy that comes from those who learn and listen.

Interesting Melinda Fact: The first instruments she learned to play were the piano and organ.
