CONCERT WTIH REGGIE SMITH

Reggie Smith



Reginald Smith, Jr. is a native of Atlanta , GA and a senior at the University of Kentucky. He is a current student of Dr. Everett McCorvey. While in Atlanta he studied voice with Elizabeth Colson.  In 2007, Mr. Smith was the undergraduate first-place winner of the Alltech Vocal Scholarship Competition at the University of Kentucky . He has participated in summer music programs including The American Institute of Musical Studies Program in Graz, Austria, the Premiering Sydney Program in Sydney, Australia, Intermezzo Young Artist Program, Janiec Opera Company at the Brevard Music Center, and Seagle Music Colony. Reginald has been seen in performances of La Traviata (Germont), Porgy and Bess (Jake), Romeo et Juliette (Capulet/ Le Duke), The Magic Flute (Speaker), Die Fledermaus (Dr. Falke), La Boheme (Colline), Mikado (Mikado), Pirates of Penzance (Pirate King), River of Time (Billy), and Amahl and the Night Visitors (Balthazar). He has performed with local orchestras including The Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, and the Evansville Symphony Orchestra. In 2011, Mr. Smith received the Best Stage Presence Award and 3rd Place in the Metropolitan Opera Mid-South Regional Auditions. He is pursuing a dual degree in Vocal Performance and Vocal Music Education.

Jonathan Reckford

North Avenue Presbyterian Church opens their 55th Annual Mission Conference One Body: Uniting the Generations in Mission with Jonathan Reckford. Reckford is Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity International, an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that has helped shelter more than 2.5 million people in almost 80 countries. Following his tenure as executive pastor at Christ Presbyterian Church near Minneapolis, Minn., he was appointed CEO of HFHI in 2005. Reckford lives in Atlanta with his wife, Ashley, and their three children and has written a book titled Creating a Habitat for Humanity: No Hands but Yours. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of Interaction and the Urban Land Institute Terwilliger Center on Workforce Housing. He also chairs the Housing for All initiative for the World Economic Forum.

NAPC’s 55th Annual Mission Conference One Body: Uniting the Generations in Mission welcomes Lauren Winner. Winner is the author of numerous books, including Girl Meets God and Mudhouse Sabbath. She has appeared on PBS’s Religion & Ethics Newsweekly and has written for The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post Book World, Publishers Weekly, Books and Culture, and Christianity Today. Winner has degrees from Duke, Columbia, and Cambridge universities, and holds a Ph.D. in history. The former book editor for Beliefnet, Lauren teaches at Duke Divinity School, and lives in Durham, North Carolina. Lauren travels extensively to lecture and teach. When she’s home, you can usually find her curled up, on her couch or screen porch, with a good novel.
