Global Mission at North Avenue
To know Jesus and make Him known across the globe…that is the vision for international mission at NAPC. Simply put, it requires aligning ourselves with where God is already at work in the world so that we can join Him in fields ripe for harvest (Matthew 9). We do this work best through our relationships…A relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ- yes. But, relationships also with the global village at our doorsteps here in Atlanta. Relationships with over 20 missionaries on 5 continents. And, relationships with the global church in the form of long-term ministry partners in Africa, East Asia, Mexico, Honduras and Egypt.
International Mission Trips
North Avenue sends mission teams across the globe every year.
How can we be praying for our teams?
-Physical safety and traveling mercies
- Team unity
- That our teams would truly know and make Jesus known, and that we, in the process of hearing their stories and sharing vicariously in their experience might also be transformed for the glory of God
North Avenue Missionaries
With over 20 long-term missionaries on over 5 continents, including Africa, East Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North and South America, our congregation has its hands on the pulse of where God is at work- so that we can join God there- all around the globe! Get Involved in the Chinese Ministry at North Avenue
Westminster International Friends (WIF)
NAPC is ministering the love and hospitality of Jesus Christ to visiting scholars from mainland China through weekly “English-as-a-Second-Language” classes and Bible study, meals and fellowship opportunities. For more information contact Neale and Carol Hightower.
Mission Partners
NAPC enjoys long-term and developing partnerships with indigenous sister churches and ministries in Kenya, China, Mexico, Honduras and the Middle East. The result? Short-term mission trips and projects are the product of much discussion with our on-the-ground partners: they therefore evolve from mutually shared goals and reflect a common understanding that good stewardship and self-sustainability are principles of paramount importance.
Kenya
Presbyterian University of East Africa comprises a pastoral institute, college and university that, under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church of East Africa (PCEA) are fulfilling the strategic role of training future indigenous leaders for the church and other institutions in Kenya and greater Africa. NAPC was a leading player in the inception and development of the university and its infrastructure. Today, by providing student scholarships, NAPC is investing in the people who come through the university’s doors.
China
Jiangsu Bible College and The Outreach Foundation (TOF) are ministry partners in China, where, together with The Outreach Foundation (TOF), a validated mission support group of the PC(USA), NAPC is helping to raise up and nurture lay and ordained leaders to meet the discipleship needs of China’s explosively growing church. The Jiangsu Bible College, in China’s northwestern Jiangsu Province, is on the front lines of these “fields ripe for harvest,” where, it is said, there is currently one pastor for every 10,000 church members-- and we are there, too, thanks to this strategic partnership.
Mexico
Puerta de Salvacion, in Mexico City, Mexico,is a long-time, sister church to North Avenue: our relationship has evolved over the course of 20 years of familial exchange and cross-pollination in ministry. Today, PDS’ congregation of around 300 is celebrating the success of having recently planted another satellite congregation. The two churches together are enjoying a thriving ministry of outreach to their local communities.
Honduras
The village of Las Moritas, Honduras was hit hard when Hurricane Mitch blew through in 1998. Since that time NAPC has been faithfully sending a team there every year in collaboration with the Episcopal Church in Honduras, to build houses, provide health education, teach Bible school, and invest in leadership and community development.
Egypt
Evangelical Theological Seminary of Cairo (ETSC)
As one of NAPC’s newer ministry partners, the Seminary, under the leadership of President Atef Gendy, is training leaders and planting churches throughout the Middle East from its strategic post in Cairo, Egypt. NAPC is investing in this work by providing scholarships to students like Rami Mikhail, from Iraq, whose dream is to return to his war-torn country and rebuild the decimated church there. In August 2008, NAPC sent a delegation of young adults to strengthen ties with the seminary.
